Getting Around Paris
The Paris Métro is one of the best urban transit systems in the world. With 16 lines covering the entire city, you’re never more than 500m from a station. The Navigo Easy card stores t+ tickets digitally — tap it on validators when entering.
Buying Train Tickets
Book TGV tickets on SNCF Connect as early as possible. Prices start from EUR 10 on Ouigo and EUR 20 on regular TGV when booked 3 months ahead. Last-minute tickets can cost EUR 100+.
Tips
- Paris taxis have fixed fares from airports — insist on using the meter for other rides
- Vélib’ bike-sharing is great for short trips around Paris (EUR 5/day pass)
- Keep your metro ticket until you exit — inspectors check regularly, fines are EUR 50
- The Navigo Découverte weekly pass (EUR 30) is worth it for 3+ days in Paris
