DownloadGetting Around Copenhagen
Copenhagen is one of the most bike-friendly cities in the world. Consider renting a bike through Donkey Republic or Bycyklen to explore like a local. The metro runs 24/7 and connects the airport, city center, and newer developments in Nordhavn and Ørestad. Harbor buses (yellow ferries) are a scenic way to travel along the waterfront and are included in regular transit tickets.
Exploring Beyond Copenhagen
DSB trains connect Copenhagen to Odense, Aarhus, and Aalborg efficiently. Book Orange tickets online for savings of up to 70% compared to walk-up fares. The Øresund train to Malmö, Sweden takes just 35 minutes and uses the same ticketing system.
Tips
- Denmark uses Danish krone (DKK), not euros. Card payment is accepted virtually everywhere, even for small amounts
- Copenhagen has excellent cycling infrastructure — always use bike lanes and signal before turning
- The Copenhagen Card includes free public transport and entry to 80+ attractions (DKK 479/48h)
- Tap water in Denmark is excellent quality and perfectly safe to drink
- Sundays most shops are closed — plan grocery shopping for Saturday
