Best time: Clear evenings at sunset for the transition from daylight city views to glittering night skyline

Standing 236 meters tall atop Namsan Mountain, N Seoul Tower is the iconic symbol of the Korean capital and offers the most spectacular 360-degree views of the sprawling metropolis. The observation deck rises to a total elevation of 480 meters above sea level, providing vistas that stretch from the Han River to the distant mountain ridges encircling the city. The journey up is half the adventure β€” take the Namsan Cable Car through a canopy of trees, or hike one of several scenic trails through Namsan Park. At the base of the tower, thousands of colorful love locks hang from railings and specially installed trees, left by couples who come here to seal their devotion with a padlock and a wish. At night, the tower lights up in different colors to indicate the next day’s air quality and weather.

Pro tip: Have dinner at the revolving restaurant near the top for a truly memorable Seoul experience β€” the restaurant completes a full rotation every 48 minutes, giving you every angle of the city while you dine.
