Spread across 218,000 square meters, the complex is a breathtaking collection of gilded spires, glittering mosaic-covered buildings, mythical guardian statues, and intricately decorated halls that showcase the finest achievements of Thai craftsmanship. The crown jewel is Wat Phra Kaew (Temple of the Emerald Buddha), which houses Thailandβs most sacred religious artifact β a 66-centimeter jade Buddha statue dressed in gold seasonal costumes changed personally by the king three times a year. The surrounding murals depicting the Ramakien epic stretch for over a kilometer along the cloister walls in vivid detail.
