Chatuchak Weekend Market
587/10 Kamphaeng Phet 2 Rd, Chatuchak, Bangkok 10900, Thailand
Open in Google Maps →Chatuchak is not just a market β it is a sprawling city within a city, one of the largest weekend markets in the world with over 15,000 stalls spread across 35 acres and 27 sections. You could spend an entire day here and still not see it all. The labyrinthine lanes overflow with everything imaginable: handmade ceramics, vintage clothing, silk scarves, antique furniture, contemporary art, aromatic spices, live plants, and some of the best street food in Bangkok. Each section has its own character, from the bohemian art quarter to the fragrant lanes of the food zone where vendors serve up pad thai, mango sticky rice, and coconut ice cream in fresh coconut shells.
The atmosphere is pure Bangkok β colorful, chaotic, and deeply welcoming. Locals shop here alongside tourists, and the real treasures are found by diving deep into the back lanes where independent designers and craftspeople sell one-of-a-kind pieces. Bargaining is expected but keep it friendly, and always start your negotiation with a smile.
Pro tip: Get the Chatuchak Guide app or pick up a free map at the information kiosk near Gate 1 to navigate the maze. Sections 2-4 have the best vintage finds, while Section 26 is a street food paradise. Wear comfortable shoes, bring cash (many stalls donβt accept cards), and stay hydrated β the Bangkok heat inside the covered stalls can be intense.
